Robinsfield Infant School Reception

At Robinsfield, we plan and assess our children in the Nursery and Reception classes following the Foundation Stage Curriculum Guidance and the Foundation Stage Profile. From September 2008 we will plan from the updated Early Years Foundation Stage national document.
We plan for the six areas of learning which form the basis of the foundation stage curriculum. These areas are:

• Personal, social and emotional development
• Communication, language and literacy
• Mathematical development
• Knowledge and understanding of the world
• Physical development
• Creative development

Here you can see the opportunities we provide for our children to engage in activities planned by adults and also those that they plan or initiate themselves. We aim for our children to experience a rich and stimulating well planned learning environment.

Currently in Reception K:

As part of the topic of ‘growth’, Reception have been learning all about animals and their young. We were lucky enough to have a look at the eggs in the nursery and saw the ducks that hatched out of them! We learnt all the different names of baby animals and found out about where they live and what they like to eat. At the end of the topic we visited Kentish Town City Farm and were able to have a look at the animals feeding and taking care of their young. It was great fun! We were all very careful and kind to the animals and benefited greatly from these first hand experiences.
